§ 4-1. Penalties.

  • (a)

    Violations of the sections pertaining to the care and limits of animals. Any person violating article VII or VIII of this chapter shall be subject to a forfeiture of not less than $50.00 and not more than $200.00. This section shall also permit the village attorney to apply to the court of competent jurisdiction for a temporary or permanent injunction restraining any person from violating any aspect of this chapter.

    (b)

    Violations of sections pertaining to dog licenses and rabies control.

    (1)

    Anyone who violates sections 4-21 through 4-83 or Wis. Stats. ch. 174, shall be subject to a forfeiture of not less than $25.00 and not more than $200.00 for the first offense and not less than $100.00 and not more than $400.00 for any subsequent offenses.

    (2)

    An owner who refuses to comply with an order issued under sections 4-74 through 4-83 to deliver an animal to an officer, isolation facility or veterinarian or who does not comply with the conditions of an order that an animal be quarantined shall be fined not less than $100.00 nor more than $1,000.00 or imprisoned not more than 60 days or both.

    (c)

    Violations of those sections pertaining owner's responsibilities. Any person who violates sections 4-84 through 4-188 shall be subject to a forfeiture of not less than $25.00 and not more than $100.00 for the first violation and not less than $50.00 and not more than $200.00 for subsequent violations.
