§ 26-21. Special assessments.

  • Special assessments levied against property benefitted by public works projects shall be apportioned among properties abutting the improvement in proportion to the value added utilizing the frontage of each lot in the project area. The portion of the total cost of the project which is assessed against the property benefitted shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Sanitary sewer main extension and lateral assessments. One hundred percent of the costs, that portion of the sewer within street intersections and 50 percent of the engineering costs. Additional cost for mains larger than eight inches shall be paid by the village utility.

    (2)

    Water main extension and lateral assessments. One hundred percent of the costs excepting hydrants, that portion of water main within street intersections and 50 percent of the engineering costs. Additional incremental cost of mains larger than six inches installed for system improvement shall be paid by the village utility.
