§ 10-48. Abatement prior to bloom.

  • (a)

    As provided for in Wis. Stats. § 66.0407, the village shall require that all noxious weeds shall be destroyed prior to the time in which such plants would mature to the bloom or flower state. The growth of noxious weeds in excess of eight inches in height from the ground surface shall be prohibited within the village corporate limits. The term "noxious weeds" shall include any weed, grass or similar plant growth which, if allowed to pollinate, would cause or produce hayfever in human beings or would cause a skin rash through contact with the skin.

    (b)

    Noxious weeds, as defined in this section and mentioned in sections 10-110 through 10-112, shall include but not be limited to the following:

    Amaranthus retroflexus (Pigweed)

    Ambrosia artemisiifolia (Common Ragweed)

    Ambrosia trifida (Great Ragweed)

    Arctium minus (Burdock)

    Cannabis sativa (Hemp)

    Chenopodium album (Common Lambsquarter)

    Cirsium arvense (Canada Thistle)

    Cirsium vulgaries (Bull Thistle)

    Convolvulus arvensis (Creeping Jenny, Field Bind weed)

    Euphorbia esula (Leafy Spurge)

    Pastinaca sativa (Wild Parsnip)

    Plantago lancellata (English Plantain)

    Rhus radicans (Poison Ivy)

    Rumex Crispus (Curled Dock)

    Tragopogon dubius (Goat's Beard)

    Xanthium strumarium (Cocklebur).

    (c)

    Noxious grasses, as defined in this article, shall include but not be limited to the following:

    Agrostia alba (Redtop)

    Poa pratensis (Kentucky Blue)

    Setaria (Foxtail)

    Sorghum halepense (Johnson).

    (d)

    Noxious weeds are also the following plants and other rank growth:

    Dandelions (over eight inches in height)

    Milkweed (over eight inches in height)

    Ragweed

    Smartweed

    Thistles.
